  • White patches resulting from depigmentation of the epidermis (loss of melanin) are caused by the selective destruction of melanocytes due to an autoimmune condition.
  • Areas most commonly affected:
    • Face and neck
    • Hands
    • Elbows and knees

A breakthrough in the treatment of vitiligo

  • In 2007, we introduced the first laser designed to treat vitiligo: the Excimer 308nm laser
  • Treatment is carried out in parallel with the application of tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) – 10-20 treatments are needed

Treatment

While there is no magic cure for vitiligo, Excimer laser treatment in combination with an ointment (Tacrolimus) is an effective alternative for repigmenting the skin. It is recommended that these pain-free treatments be carried out weekly over a period of 10 to 20 weeks.
