Photobiomodulation is a new innovative treatment that promotes faster healing of resistant skin ulcers.
Photobiomodulation is a new approach to energize skin cells to promote better & faster wound healing. Specific pulsing codes (like a morse code) have been developed by Dr. Barolet to enhance collagen production in hard-to-treat skin ulcers.
In the same way that plants use chlorophyll to convert sunlight into tissue support, photobiomodulation by Light Emitting Diode (LED) triggers intracellular reactions that activate collagen production in the skin. These reactions also have anti-inflammatory properties. The clinical benefits associated with the increased collagen production for wound healing involve the stimulation of specific subcellular receptors located in the mitochondria of certain mammalian cells, such as dermal fibroblasts. Dr. Barolet developed this method at our affiliated skin optics research center, RoseLab.
