Treatment

Treatment for rosacea varies with each person’s unique history and symptoms.

Stage 1
In its early stages, rosacea responds very well to vascular lasers, particularly to the pulsed dye laser which targets the generalized redness as well as the clearly defined blood vessels. Up to 80% of the redness (dilated blood vessels) can usually be eliminated in two to three laser treatment sessions.

Stage 2
When inflammation is present in the second stage of rosacea (acne rosacea), it is sometimes necessary to begin treatment first with topical or oral medication, before moving on to laser treatment.

Stage 3
At the other end of the spectrum (rhinophyma), the CO2 laser can effectively correct a nose deformity by reshaping its surface. The results are often spectacular! The face regains its balance and proportions. Healing normally takes a month, and a second treatment may be necessary. Dr. Barolet’s expertise in this field is widely recognized.
